Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos · Tailor-made & FIT Every itinerary here is a starting point
The route you send is not the route they travel
One published seven-day Vietnam itinerary, read against three briefs an agent might actually send. Pick the one that sounds like your client.
Client brief
“Two of us, first time in Asia, celebrating an anniversary. We don’t want to feel rushed.”
The published route already works for them. The changes are about comfort and one or two moments worth remembering, not about redrawing the map.
How we reshape it
- Hanoi
- Halong Bay (upgraded)
- Da Nang
- Hoi An (upgraded)
- Ho Chi Minh City
Five stops · 7 nights · route unchanged
- Nights7 → 7Unchanged at seven. The route is already paced for a first visit.
- HotelsCategory upMoved up a category, and a room with a view where the property has one worth paying for.
- Halong BayCabin upgradeA higher cabin class on the overnight cruise rather than a different vessel.
- AddedSpecial momentsAn evening lantern boat in Hoi An, and a private table for the anniversary dinner.
- GuidingPrivatePrivate throughout — two people on a shared coach is the fastest way to lose the mood.
Client brief
“Four of us, children are six and eleven. Same highlights, but the driving days worry me.”
This is the brief that most often needs the route itself changed, not just the hotels. Long transfers are what breaks a family trip, so they come out first.
How we reshape it
- Hanoi
- Halong Bay
- Da Nang
- Hoi An
- Ho Chi Minh City
Five stops · 8 nights
- Nights7 → 8Eight. One extra night buys out the longest road day.
- RoomsConnectingConnecting or a family room, confirmed with the property rather than requested and hoped for.
- Swapped2 activitiesThe longer walking sightseeing becomes a basket-boat ride and a hands-on cooking class.
- PaceEasedLater starts, and the afternoon left open near the hotel pool on the two hottest days.
- MealsBriefed aheadRestaurants briefed in advance on children’s portions and any dietary requirement.
Client brief
“They’ve done Hanoi and Halong. They want somewhere they haven’t been, same length of trip.”
Here the base itinerary is only useful as a frame. Half of it comes out, and the trip is rebuilt from the parts of the country a second visit is actually for.
How we reshape it
- Hanoi
- Halong Bay (dropped)
- Ninh Binh (added)
- The northern valleys (added)
- Da Nang
- Hoi An
- Ho Chi Minh City
One stop out, two in · still 7 nights
- Dropped2 removedThe Hanoi city sightseeing and the standard Halong overnight — both already done.
- Added+2 nightsTwo nights in Ninh Binh and the northern valleys, which most first trips never reach.
- Nights7 → 7Still seven. Length held, content replaced.
- GuidingSpecialistA guide who can go past the headline history — briefed on what they saw last time.
- RoutingInternal flightsFlown internally rather than driven, to keep the extra region inside the same week.
These three are an illustration of how a brief is read, not a menu. Every quote is built against the actual dates, party and budget you send, and the hotels, vehicle and guiding are confirmed in writing with it.
What is actually changeable
Agents ask this before they ask about price, because it decides whether the enquiry is worth working on at all.
- 01 Hotel category Three-star through five-star, or a named property you already sell. Mixed categories across one trip are normal.
- 02 Length and pace Nights added or removed, long drives broken up, and start times moved to suit the party.
- 03 Private or seat-in-coach Private vehicle and guide throughout, shared where it makes better sense, or a mix by day.
- 04 Routing Different arrival and departure cities, internal flights instead of road, or a second country added.
- 05 Guide language Licensed local guides, with the language confirmed per city at the time of quoting.
- 06 Meals and diet Indian, Jain, vegetarian and allergy requirements confirmed with each restaurant in writing.
- 07 Rooms Twin, double, triple, connecting or family rooms — confirmed with the property, not assumed.
- 08 Experiences Cooking classes, cruise cabin class, spa, tailoring in Hoi An — added or dropped per client.
And what does not move
The numbers an agent normally has to ask for, published instead.
| Age at travel | Sleeping arrangement | Charged at |
|---|---|---|
| Infant under 3 | Sharing a room with parents | Free |
| Child 4–6 under 1.0 m | Sharing a room with parents, no extra bed | 50% |
| Child 7–11 under 1.4 m | Sharing a room with parents, no extra bed | 65% |
| Child 7–11 under 1.4 m | Sharing a room with parents, with an extra bed | 75% |
Ages and heights are taken as at the date of travel. Every child in the party is shown on their own line of the quote, at the rate above, so there is nothing to work out backwards from a total.
Ten routes built to be changed

Four steps, usually one business day
What happens between you sending a brief and having a net rate you can mark up.
The brief
Dates, party, hotel category and roughly what the client wants out of the trip. A paragraph is enough to start.
The route
We shape the days around the pace and the driving, then name the hotels and the guiding so you can see what you are pricing.
The net rate
Costed per person for that party, ready to mark up. Confidential, and yours to brand as your own.
The revisions
Clients change their minds. Come back as many times as it takes — re-costing a changed route is the job, not a favour.
The party travels on its own terms
A couple, a family, a few friends or a small private group — anyone whose trip is built around them rather than around a departure date. Private vehicle and guide, and a route that exists only for them.
The party runs past sixteen
Sixteen passengers is the ceiling on a FIT quote. From around ten the costing already changes shape — vehicle, guide and fixed costs get shared across the group, so it is quoted per passenger band rather than per party. Send the number and we will tell you which way it prices better.
Group Tours & Series Departures →Photographed on the ground
Every picture in this wall comes from a trip we have actually operated. No stock photography, and no borrowed library.
Tailor-made questions, answered
How quickly do you turn around a tailor-made quote?
Standard FIT quotes come back within one business day. A long multi-country route, or one that needs hotels held over a peak date, can take longer — if it will, we tell you that on the day you send the brief rather than letting it run quiet.
What party size do you quote for a tailor-made trip?
From one traveller up to a maximum of sixteen. There is no minimum, and below the ceiling the only thing party size changes is the per-person cost, because a private vehicle and guide are shared across fewer people. From around ten passengers a group programme often prices better, and past sixteen it has to be one — send us the number and we will say which way we would cost it.
How are children charged on a tailor-made trip?
Infants under three sharing a room with their parents travel free of charge. A child of four to six, under 1.0 m, sharing the room without an extra bed is charged at 50 per cent of the adult rate. A child of seven to eleven, under 1.4 m, is charged at 65 per cent sharing the room without an extra bed, or 75 per cent where an extra bed is added. Ages and heights are taken as at the date of travel, and each child appears on its own line of the quote.
Is there a single supplement, and how much is it?
Yes, where a traveller occupies a room on their own. The amount is set by the hotel property rather than by us, so it moves with the hotel category and the season instead of being a flat figure we apply across the trip. It is stated with the quote rather than folded into the per-person rate.
Can we change the itinerary after you have quoted it?
Yes, and as often as the client needs. Re-costing a changed route is the normal work of a FIT quote, not an exception. What we do ask is that the final version is confirmed in writing before we hold hotels, so that what is booked and what is priced stay the same thing.
Are the published itineraries fixed, or can we start from scratch?
Either. The ten routes on this page exist so you have something to send a client the same hour they ask, but most confirmed trips end up some distance from the published version. A blank brief — dates, party, budget, interests — is just as welcome.
Do you quote private guiding, or seat-in-coach?
Both, and often mixed within one trip — private for the days that matter and shared for a straightforward transfer or a standard half-day. We will say which we have assumed on each day of the quote, so you can see exactly what the difference in price is buying.
Can one tailor-made trip cover Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos?
Yes, on a single contract. We have in-house operations teams in all three countries, so a trip that crosses a border stays with one coordinator and one point of accountability instead of being handed to a separate local supplier partway through.
Send the brief, not the booking
Dates, party and a sentence about what the client wants. We will come back with a route and a net per-person rate you can brand as your own.
