The island that ends the trip

Phu Quoc sits in the Gulf of Thailand, closer to the Cambodian coast than to mainland Vietnam — an island roughly 50km end to end, with two thirds of it national park and UNESCO biosphere reserve. The west coast takes the sunsets, the east keeps the quietest white sand, and the An Thoi archipelago scatters south into water clear enough to snorkel straight off the boat.

For your clients it is the decompression at the end of a touring itinerary — the point where the alarm clock goes off. For you it is a straightforward add-on with an airport and real resort inventory, plus a ferry link that ties it neatly to a Mekong Delta programme. That is exactly where a Vietnam DMC earns its place: we hold the resort allotments, read the sea conditions before your clients lose a boat day, and keep a local team on the island rather than a phone number on the mainland.

Know before you go

Best time to visit Phu Quoc

On an island the season matters more than anywhere else in Vietnam — it decides whether the boats sail.

  • Nov – Apr: The Dry Season with Calm Seas — The Window for Island Hopping and Snorkelling.
  • May – Aug: The Southwest Monsoon Builds — Warm Sea, Heavier Afternoon Rain, Lower Rates.
  • Sep – Oct: The Wettest Months, When Boat Trips Are Most Often Cancelled at Short Notice.
  • Build a flexible land day into any green-season programme so a lost boat day is never a lost day.

FAQ

Phu Quoc — Questions from the trade

Three to four nights is the sweet spot — enough for a beach day, an An Thoi island-hopping trip and the Hon Thom cable car without feeling rushed. Most agents use it as the relaxed finale after Hanoi, Da Nang or Saigon rather than as a standalone.

White-sand beaches such as Sao Beach and Long Beach, the Hon Thom over-sea cable car, snorkelling in the An Thoi archipelago, Vinpearl Safari, and its protected fish sauce and pepper farms. Two thirds of the island is national park and UNESCO biosphere reserve.

November to April is the dry season with calm seas — the best window for island hopping and snorkelling. May to October is the southwest monsoon, when rain is heavier and boat trips are more often cancelled at short notice.

By air to Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) — roughly one hour from Ho Chi Minh City and two hours from Hanoi, plus a growing list of direct international routes. There are also fast ferries from Ha Tien and Rach Gia in the Mekong Delta, which pair the island neatly with a delta programme.

Very much so. Vinpearl Safari, the cable car and calm west-coast beaches make it one of Vietnam’s easiest islands with children, while the concentration of large international resorts makes it a practical base for incentives and conferences.

No — we are a B2B Vietnam DMC. We plan and operate Phu Quoc on the ground for travel agents, tour operators and MICE planners, and every itinerary can be fully white-labelled for your agency.
