Halong Bay — Questions from the trade

About 165 km. Since the Hai Phong–Halong expressway opened, the private transfer takes roughly 2.5 hours, so both day cruises and overnight cruises slot neatly into a northern Vietnam programme. A seaplane transfer is available as a scenic upgrade.

A day cruise suits tight schedules; the overnight cruise is the signature experience — sunset over the karsts, dinner on board, kayaking and a calm dawn away from the day-trip crowds. One or two nights on board is our most-requested format.

October to April brings the clearest skies and calmest seas. Spring and early autumn are especially pleasant. July to August is warm, green and busy with domestic travellers — and the storm window, when we adjust sailings for safety.
